Obama on Rangel, "allegations are very troubling"
New York Democratic Congressman from Harlem, Charlie Rangel has been charged with thirteen violations of House ethics rules. When Obama
spoke with CBS News he called the charges "very troubling". And further noted that Rangel is 80, and is near the end of his career saying, "I
think Charlie Rangel served a very long time and served his constituents very well, but these allegations are very troubling, and, you know,
he's somebody who is at the end of his career, 80 years old. I'm sure that what he wants is to be able to end his career with dignity, and
my hope is that happens."
The New York primary contest is September 14, and if placed on the ballot he is expected to easily win the general election because
his district traditionally votes Democrat. This would be Rangel's twenty first term in the House of Representatives.
