Escalade, Voted #1 by Thieves
The Highway Loss Data Institute, part of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which calculates the thefts per insured vehicles on the
road, just released theft claim rates for the past three year's models. And your favorite pimp wagon was numero uno: the Cadillac Escalade. The
Escalade has dominated the list and maintained the number one spot among car thieves for six of the past seven years.
Kim Hazelbaker, senior vice president of the HLDI said, "Almost one in every four Escalade theft claims is for $40,000 or more. Escalades
are equipped with antitheft ignition immobilizers that prevent them from being started without a special key, but that doesn't prevent some
thieves from hauling them away on flatbed trucks"
The top five was rounded out by the F-250 Crew Cab pickup, Infiniti G37 two-door, Dodge Charger and the Chevy Corvette Z06.
