Mick Jagger's Daughter Jade to Design Luxury Homes in India

Jade Jagger, the 39 year-old daughter of legendary Rolling Stones frontman Mick, will reportedly design luxury homes for an upscale residential project planned by Indian builders. The move is designed to woo international customers whose wealth is expanding.

Lodha Developers Ltd., based in the northeastern suburb of Goregaon, has hired Jagger, according to a brochure marketing to wealthy buyers. Jagger has partnered with a London-based firm called Yoo Design Studios for the project, according to a February 16th phone interview with Yoo's chairman, John Hitchcox.

"India is a great opportunity for us. We are now living in this mass celebrity world. People are looking for more and more identity. There is a tendency for them to want to identify with how others live and their lifestyles," Hitchcox explained about the decision to bring in Jagger.

Indian developers are trying desperately to lure buyers into a market where new home sales plummeted as much as 25 percent after reaching record-high levels early last year. Renowned real-estate developer Donald Trump also has plans for the Indian luxury housing market, as he has partnered with Rohan Lifescapes Pvt. To build an upscale residential tower in Mumbai.

The luxury housing market is on the rise in India, as evidenced by Credit Suisse Group AG's recent projection that the nation's wealthy will nearly double their assets over the next five years. The soaring wealth has developers scrambling to partner with celebrities and fashion icons on residential design projects across the nation.
