T.I. and Wife Arrested for
Controlled Substance in
T.I., alleged rapper, and Tameka Cottle were arrested late Wednesday night according to the AP. We are day trending this story because although all the new buzz about marijuana legalization for medical use in California, apparently it does not extend to celebrities driving around in their ghetto sleds.
The arrests for possession of a controlled substance happened after a traffic stop in West Hollywood as told by LA sheriff's deputy Mark Pope. The media office however didn't not know the details on the specific drug the to which the possesion charge referred.
"Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A narcotics investigation ensued," the LA County Sheriff's Department stated.
T.I., real name Clifford Harris, Jr., 29, is an Atlanta-based rapper was booked at the West Hollywood sheriff's station and bond was set at $10,000. Cottle, 36, who is a singer from group Xscape, was also arrested and bail set at $10,000. Pope was not aware if they were still being held at 4 a.m. Thursday.
TMZ is reporting that T.I. is on probabtion from a prison term served for seven months in an Arkansas federal prison, and 3 months in a Georgia halfway house on a federal weapons charge. He was released in March, and has recently appeared in "Takers" an action flick about an armored truck robbery that goes bad, like the traffic stop in West Hollywood yesterday.
